AI Risks Smoothwall Monitor Clinic
This clinic provides a comprehensive overview of current safeguarding trends in online safety – AI, behaviour and risk; highlighting emerging risks linked to online behaviour, mental health, and technology use from a Smoothwall perspective.
Session Focus: AI and Emerging Risks
A key focus of this session is the rapid rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and students’ daily lives.
● Student Engagement: We will explore how students are using AI tools, why they are drawn to them, and where the line sits between safe, appropriate use and safeguarding concerns.
● Policy and Practice: The session will support discussions around AI policies, including the challenges schools face with excessive or inappropriate use.
● Proactive Response: Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how these trends impact safeguarding and how schools can respond through policy, education, and culture.
Smoothwall Monitor Portal Workshop
During the session we will look at the Monitor Portal. This will give updates on new functionality, administrator best practices, and reporting. Please bring your device and ensure you have access to your Monitor Portal.

Expected impact on schools – Participants will:
● Be able to change policy and practice in line with recent developments in AI.
● Understand how the portal can support the safeguarding agenda of the school.
● Be able to produce customised reports of safeguarding alerts and compare these with regional and national data.
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at headteachers and DSL in schools and those who receive Smoothwall Monitor alerts.
Charge:
This course is part of the CPD programme for schools in the ICT in Schools Service Offering and is Free of Charge to those schools.
