It’s certainly been a refreshing week – in weather terms a bit of everything.  We’ve been busy at The Word and are working through the DfE laptops, over 500 will have been turned round by the end of today.  We have also welcomed our first group of students back and had a great day with West Boldon Y5 making Scratch projects.
So here’s what else is going on:
We have the second of our E Safety Briefings on Tuesday 5th October from 4.00 – 5.00.  This is an excellent opportunity for you or whoever is DSL to find out what the current research evidence is and the response from organisations such as Childnet.
We also have an online Google Classroom session next week on Wednesday 6th October 4.00 – 5.00.   If you have any new teachers who missed the training from last year or anyone who would benefit from a refresher please sign up.
Contact  [email protected] to book your place/s on either of these sessions.
Don’t forget you still need a remote learning plan in place, so for any of you using Google classroom this is a great opportunity to make sure everyone is up to speed.
North East STEM Hub
There are loads of exciting events going on in the North East for STEM and I know lots of you are planning STEM weeks this term.  We have a friendly face at the STEM Hub who would be delighted to help you make the most of it.  Contact Josh Minto at RTC North to see what he can do to support your school.  [email protected]
European Code Week 9th – 24th October
I know it’s not a week, but this is the link to the code week website
And finally, pass on a smile, it’s National Smiling Day!  Here’s a favourite little rhyme:
Smiling is infectious, you catch it like the flu,
Someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too!
