World of Stories CPD Event – 4pm Thursday 21st September 2017

WORLD OF STORIES

Content:
How using StoryWorld can enhance writing
John Gardner, in his book The Art of Fiction, wrote, “… whatever the genre may be, fiction does its work by creating a dream in the reader’s mind.” In other words, the writer’s task is to keep the reader under his or her spell. Descriptive imagery helps the reader visualize the context for the story, whether it be a poem, novel, short story or a play. StoryWorld @ The Word captures the creativity by immersing the audience in a world of their imagination. By using the room to write in, children will be inspired and demonstrate how imagery can enhance their creative writing.
This course leads on from the resources developed by South Tyneside Literacy Advisors of the Creative Text Literacy training and Teaching Sequences. You will have the chance to experience StoryWorld @ The Word and consider how the resource could be used to accelerate attainment in writing.

 Develop new approaches to accelerate attainment in writing
 Use immersive technology as a stimulus for writing

Have a great Summer!

The Summer holidays have finally arrived, we would like to wish everyone a fabulous time over the next few weeks.  We’d also like to thank you for all the great work that we have been privileged to support you with.  We have had over 3600 students visit us since moving into our new home, and over 2200 teachers.  We are really looking forward to another very busy year.  Have a great summer, and see you in September!

Snap Maps

You may be aware that there is a new feature on Snapchat called Snap Maps which     worryingly posts the location of the user. The LSCB have produced some information sheets to raise awareness with parents/adults and children.
